Possible course projects:
- Everyday Text Collection & Interview Project — the one we ditched in order to work on the everyday texts of campus sexual assault project: drawing on your own resources, people, and connections, compose an ethnographic project that explores everyday texts in a professional, workplace, creative, activist, or community environment. Include examples, field notes, and analysis.
- What is the value of studying everyday texts?
- An image ecology project
- Sound as an everyday text?
- The semiotics of everyday texts
- Focus on an issue or topic that’s important and meaningful to you, as we did with your sexual assault projects
We’ll negotiate the length and scope both as a class and individually, but assume for starters a conventional 12-20 page upper division term project.
