- Your choice: write 250 words on what the painting means to you, drawing on your own background, experiences, assumptions — use secondary sources if you like, but it’s not required — or write 250 words on the secondary sources that you’ve already collected, discussing what seems to be at stake for the authors and sources that you found: what do they seem to value and to care about? What “meaning” do they attribute to Mother and Child?
